The Southern Republican Leadership is an organization from the southern United States which supports the Republican political party. Every two years the Southern Republican Leadership Conference is held, and has become the second largest gathering of Republican Party supporters in the entire nation. During the Conference every biennial, republican activists from across the South and the nation join together and exchange ideas and party plan strategies for the future of the Republican Party. Past attendees to this biennial event have included current United States President George Bush, Elizabeth Dole and Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, among many other famous Republicans over the years.

Corporate sponsors are chosen each year for the event. Coca-Cola Soft Drink Company and Bank of America, the second largest bank in the United States, are two companies that have chosen to host past events. The Southern Republican Leadership organization stands to represent what is wrong with the current nation’s leadership ruling elite. They gather to listen to key speakers address the reasons why the nation’s economy is becoming worse each year, the problems with attacks on immigrants and immigration rights, the attacks on civil liberties, women’s rights and many more topics that may be plaguing the country at the time of the meeting.

The organization calls on all people from the Republican party who may be concerned about the standard of living for working Americans, poor people and those who care about civil liberties and the rights of immigrants. Other issues normally discussed include women, children and elderly rights and the current state of United States’ foreign policies. Activists from across the region come together make their statement for global justice and attempt to bring the Republican Party together in such a way as to build unity and strength.
Recent issues that have been at the front burner for the Southern Republican Leadership organization include number of Americans without health insurance, which is currently calculated at around 40 million, the number of children in the country who are currently homeless and the United States government loan guarantees and financial support of settlements in West Bank and Gaza.

Although many who join this organization are merely civilians and not in the political limelight, they work together to decipher ways in which to strengthen the country as a whole, while providing the needed amenities and life necessities for all citizens, whether they belong to the Republican or Democratic parties.
