Leadership Habits of Shipping Fund Managers
Sara is an employee at a major brokerage firm. She has been there for about five years. She has extensive experience in shipping funds and discount funds (Fondsdiscounter), but was skipped over for the promotion to shipping fund manager. She approached her boss with the idea and her boss told her that he did not feel she would have the best leadership habits to get the job done.
Monday was the first day under the new shipping funds (Schiffsfonds) manager. Sara was nervous to see who had filled the position. The elevator opened and a young woman dressed from head to toe in bright yellow stepped out. She cocked her head to the side and gave the place a once over. This did not look good. Sara was scared. The lady in yellow made her way past the water cooler where Amie Herclop and Josephine Almetter were discussing last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives. She was silent as she walked past the padded gray cubical where Sara was sitting. She smelled like apples, which reminded Sara of the fruit cup she forgot to put in the kitchen.
The lady in yellow came to a stop at the shipping fund manager’s office. She took a handkerchief from her bright yellow bag and gave the nameplate a quick rub down, scoffed as she turned her nose up slamming the door behind her.
Sara was curious. The shipping fund manager’s office was on the way to the kitchen. So Sara grabbed up her excuse, uh, fruit cup and headed that direction. As she closed in on the shipping fund manager’s office door, it opened. Sara was startled, she dropped her fruit cup. She chased it as it rolled right over to the bright yellow Jimmy Choo patent sandal that was stepping through the doorway. The lady is yellow let out yet another scoff and slammed the door behind her.

Sara went on to the office kitchen and put her fruit cup in the refrigerator that was provided by the company to store employees’ personal foods. As Sara made her way back to her desk, a man dressed in all black entered the shipping fund manager’s office. Sara sat at her desk wondering who the man in black was and why he was there to see the lady in yellow. Just then, the lights all went out and the entire office was engulfed by darkness.
Some people screamed, some cursed and others cried. No one was sure what was going on or what was going to happen next. Sara wondered first why the power would fail, there were no storms in the area, no nearby construction sites. In addition, she also wondered why there were no emergency lights if this was a simple failure of power.
A bright purple flash of light came from the direction of the shipping fund manager’s office. The power roared back to life. Sara, curious as usual, wandered over to the shipping fund manager’s office to find it empty. There was a perfect circle cut into the glass of the office window. The lady in yellow and the man in black were gone, but to where was the question on Sara’s mind.
